Paid Media & Ads Intelligence — Cahoot (ex-Campus Sutra)
Domain: cahoot.in (legacy campussutra.com 301-redirects here). Brand is mid-rebrand from Campus Sutra to Cahoot. Collection date: 10 Aug 2026. Sources: Meta Ad Library, Google Ads Transparency Center, SpyFu (public/free tiers). All figures are proxies from public signals unless explicitly marked as directly observed.
1. Snapshot
Cahoot runs a high-spend-intensity, Meta-dominated paid program with a modern creator-first creative engine. As of 10 Aug 2026 the brand has ~200 active Meta ads (page ID 158823647594093) and 87 Google ads running under its verified entity (CAMPUSSUTRA RETAIL PRIVATE LIMITED, "Verified" status). The archetype is a performance-led full-funnel operator with a strong creator/UGC engine and an app-install growth focus — offer-savvy and retargeting-heavy, with an "Iconic Everyday" brand-identity layer built on top.
Headline finding: this is one of the more sophisticated performance + app-growth paid operations in the Indian value-menswear segment — heavy on creator Reels, dynamic retargeting, and app-install (20% app discount), all wrapped in a coherent aspirational brand voice. The clearest paid vulnerabilities are rebrand leakage (some active ads still land on the legacy campussutra.com domain and carry "Campus Sutra" branding) and zero regional-language creative despite the tier-2/3 upside.
2. Creative strategy
Meta is the creative engine. Across the sampled active ads, the dominant pattern is a mix of:
- Creator/UGC Reels (~35-40% of sample) — dozens of micro-influencer video ads ("with Cahoot" partnerships: krrishkhosla20, aakashbwlkr, asad.gauri786, rajvardhan_singhh__, kunaljalan_, _tushar_0101, nipunsingh_, about.praveenn, mr_muzamil_03, H R I D A Y G U P T a, akarsh.h.s, and others). These are filmed-fit / "comment LINK" style fashion Reels — classic top-of-funnel engagement + social proof. Several use the conversational "Comment 'LINK'" CTA, a strong India-specific engagement/commerce tactic.
- Aspirational brand copy — "Iconic Everyday," "main character energy without trying too hard," "Let them notice," "Giving main character energy," "The kind of shirt that makes heatwaves look easy." This is a distinct, coherent voice pushing a premium-feel identity above the value price point.
- Retargeting / BOFU — "Still thinking about it? Your cart's been waiting," "Still thinking? Your perfect fits are in cart," "The fit upgrade you were thinking about."
- App-install — "Download the Cahoot App for an Extra 20% Off… code APP20," across both Google Play and iOS App Store placements.
- Founder-story (rare) — at least one founder-to-camera ad (aditya.aga: "Introducing Muslin Breezy Weave — India's answer to Linen"), a genuinely differentiating angle that's currently under-used.
Funnel-stage distribution is well balanced for a D2C. There's a real TOFU layer (creator UGC, aspirational brand), a MOFU layer (fit/spec/product ads), and a heavy, well-instrumented BOFU layer (retargeting + app install + offers). Copy is predominantly benefits-led with a light feature/spec tier on the product-deep-link ads. CTAs are largely direct ("Shop Now") plus the engagement-flavored "Comment LINK" and "Install Now" for app growth.
Testing is visibly structured. Many ads show "This ad has multiple versions" / "2-3 ads use this creative and text," and the Google text ad runs 3 variations — multiple concurrent creative variants per concept, which signals a real A/B-testing cadence rather than one-off creative.
3. Offer & testing patterns
Offer architecture is stackable and sitewide:
- 5% off prepaid — the universal, always-on incentive appearing on most product ads ("Extra 5% Off on Prepaid Orders"). Directly observed and honored on-site.
- Buy 2 Save 10% — a bundle/nudge offer layered on some ads.
- 20% app discount (code APP20) — a dedicated app-first acquisition offer driving installs and luring customers off the web checkout into the app.
Discount depth is steady and consistent (not an escalating discount-pressure pattern you sometimes see in stressed D2Cs). The prepaid mechanic is doing double duty as an RTO-mitigation lever (shifting buyers from COD to prepaid is explicitly engineered, the classic Indian apparel D2C move).
Testing sophistication: structured. High creative velocity + multiple concurrent variants per concept = a mature testing operation, not just frequent full creative replacement. Longevity is strong — several ads have run 40+ days, which in practice implies sustained profitability.
4. Paid search presence
Split into observed / estimated / baseline:
Observed (high confidence):
- 87 Google ads indexed to the verified advertiser CAMPUSSUTRA RETAIL PRIVATE LIMITED for cahoot.in, active through 9 Aug 2026.
- Search text ads with rich sitelinks ("Cahoot Shirts," "Polos For Men," "Shop Men Flannel Shirts," "Shop Linen Collection") and a callout — e.g. the "Cahoot — India's Newest Men's Brand… 1200+ styles" ad landing on /collection/men.
- Shopping product-feed ads (e.g., "Cahoot men's Flannel Green & Buff Beige Vignette-Checkered… [Price] … By Google").
- App-install ads for the Cahoot app on Google Play — consistent with the Meta app push.
Estimated (low confidence):
- SpyFu (campussutra.com) reports a near-total absence of tracked paid search (~1 keyword, est. budget ≈ $1/mo, 100% organic). This is a US-centric dataset that systematically undercounts Indian D2C spend, and it directly contradicts the 87 Google ads observed in the Transparency Center — so the brand's Google paid presence is real, but SpyFu cannot size it. A live Google SERP spot-check could not be completed this run, so no independent keyword-level confirmation was captured.
Category baseline: Indian fashion/apparel D2C non-brand CPCs typically run ₹5–25; branded terms ₹2–8. (Market context, not brand-specific.)
Read: Google is a confirmed but secondary channel to Meta — Search + Shopping + App presence, sized far below the Meta program.
5. Country-market adaptation (India)
Tier: Partial — strong payment adaptation, absent language adaptation.
- Payment flexibility — STRONG. Sitewide 5% prepaid incentive (RTO-mitigation), "Free Shipping & COD Available" messaging in ads, a Snapmint "Pay in 3" BNPL partner ad in the library, and UPI at checkout. This is a complete India payment stack.
- RTO consciousness — HIGH. The relentless 5%/20% prepaid push is the signature RTO-mitigation lever; the brand also advertises "7-day easy returns," keeping the trust message on the front foot.
- Regional language — ABSENT (the gap). Every one of the ~47 sampled creatives is English-only. For a value-menswear D2C whose category has huge tier-2/tier-3 demand and who already runs a broad-reach creator-Reels strategy, the complete absence of any Hindi/regional-language creative is a clear, named whitespace.
- Festival/sale calendar — always-on. The observed window (18 Jun – 8 Aug 2026) shows flat, continuous advertiser volume (summer/EOSS + Independence-Day window) rather than clusters that obviously flank single festivals. Inconclusive on full-year seasonality from this window, but the brand clearly runs always-on, not campaign-gapped.
6. Ad-to-landing-page message match
Scored across six representative ads (Strong / Partial / Weak) — this is the direct bridge to the CRO audit:
| Ad | Landing | Copy / Visual / Offer | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta retarget (cart) | cahoot.in | Partial / Partial / Strong | 5% prepaid honored sitewide; cart-reminder copy doesn't carry literal saved-cart state to a generic product/home page |
| Meta app-install | Play Store app | Strong / Strong / Strong | 20% off app order is real (APP20, confirmed on-site) |
| Meta "Buy 2 Save 10%" | cahoot.in | Partial / Partial / Partial | 5% prepaid confirmed; the specific bundle mechanic wasn't visible on the captured homepage iteration |
| Meta deep-link (emerald shirt) | exact product URL | Strong / Strong / Strong | best-practice catalogue retargeting — ad product = LP product |
| Google Search ad | /collection/men | Strong / Strong / Strong | headline promise lands precisely on the men's collection with matching sitelinks |
| Meta brand ad | campussutra.com (legacy) | Partial / Partial / Partial | Cahoot messaging resolves to the old domain — a continuity break users may notice mid-rebrand |
Overall: message match is Strong for deep-linked product and app-install ads — the brand's catalogue retargeting is disciplined. The two Partial cases are (a) offer edges that aren't confirmed visible at the exact LP moment, and (b) the rebrand-transition leak where some paid creative still funnels to the legacy domain/branding.
7. Whitespace & recommendations
The most actionable takeaways:
- Fix the rebrand leak in paid — P0. Several active Meta ads still land on campussutra.com and carry "Campus Sutra" / "#campussutra" language. When the entire strategy is a rebrand to Cahoot, running conflicting brand signals in paid is self-inflicted confusion. Audit the ad set for legacy-domain destinations and legacy-brand assets and migrate them.
- Add regional-language creative — P0/P1. Zero Hindi/regional creative exists despite tier-2/3 value-menswear demand and an already broad creator engine. This is the single biggest reach-whitespace on Meta; pair it with the existing creator network.
- Elevate the founder-story hook — P1. The single founder-camera ad (Muslin Breezy Weave) is a rare differentiator in a crowded "offer-led" field. The Agarwal-family bootstrapped narrative + "brotherhood" positioning is under-deployed as a creative concept.
- Finish the CRO bridge on offer edges. The 5% prepaid is honored, but bundle offers like "Buy 2 Save 10%" weren't clearly visible on the recorded LP — confirm the bundle mechanic is surfaced at the exact LP moment so ad-promise and page-promise never diverge (weak message match is a measurable conversion leak).
- Consider a Google Display/YouTube brand layer. Google presence is real but thin relative to Meta (~87 vs ~200). A Display/YouTube brand-vertical would complement the strong search/shopping base and add a much-needed non-Meta brand-building surface.
- Inventory the "comment LINK" conversational path. It's a strong engagement/commerce CTA already in-market; standardize the tracking so DMs/comment-led orders are attributed, since it currently sits outside a clean web-funnel view.
8. Methodology note
Data was collected 10 Aug 2026 from the public Meta Ad Library (page ID 158823647594093, ~200 active ads; 47 sampled in detail), the Google Ads Transparency Center (87 ads, verified advertiser CAMPUSSUTRA RETAIL PRIVATE LIMITED), and SpyFu's free tier. Spend-intensity, funnel-maturity, and testing-sophistication conclusions are proxies built from observable signals (active-ad counts, creative velocity, longevity, format mix) — the page's Ad Library profile did not display a 12-month cumulative-spend figure, so no directly-reported spend number was available. No competitor teardown was requested. A live Google SERP spot-check was attempted but could not be completed this run; Google paid presence is therefore characterized from the directly-observed Transparency Center data rather than live SERP.
Appendix A. Estimated Ad Spend Methodology
Source brief (ad-library-screenshots.md): order-of-magnitude ad-spend inference and methodology.
Ad Spend / Advertising Observations — Cahoot (formerly Campus Sutra)
Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Ads
- Active, highly social-first D2C brand (Instagram/Facebook are the two social platforms linked in the footer).
- Facebook page "Cahoot" (facebook.com/cahootin) is heavily engaged (74,639 likes / 3,740 talking about this).
- Brand narrative is influencer/culture-driven ("advertise an attitude"), typical of a performance-Meta-led casual menswear D2C.
- Detailed active-ad counts in the Meta Ads Library were not extracted during this analysis; ad spend is therefore estimated qualitatively below.
Google Ads
- High-competition keywords targeted by the brand fall in men's casual wear: "shirts for men," "jackets for men," "t-shirts for men," "cargo," "baggy jeans," "mens jeans" (see site "Popular Searches" and title tags) — all high-CPC commercial head terms.
- A dedicated search + shopping presence is implied by the brand's SEO title strategy ("India's most Trusted Mens Clothing Brand").
Estimated Monthly Ad Spend (order-of-magnitude, methodology shown)
| Channel | Est. Monthly Spend | Methodology / Rationale |
|---|---|---|

| Google Ads (Search+Shopping) | ₹30–60 Lakh (~$40k–75k) | Head-term CPCs for menswear typically ₹15–40; brand pursues top-of-funnel head keywords; mid-size D2C search budget |
| Marketplaces (Amazon/Flipkart ads) | ₹20–40 Lakh (~$25k–50k) | Multi-marketplace presence implies sponsored product spend |
| Influencer/Creator | ₹15–40 Lakh (~$20k–50k) | Creator-led launch strategy ("built around influencers," dedicated influencer collections) |
| Total Estimated | ₹1.25–2.6 Cr/month (~$150k–320k) | Rough order-of-magnitude; confidence: Low–Medium. Based on observable scale signals, not internal data. |
