Adoria Threads — AI SEO / Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) Audit

Report generated 2026-08-22. Companion to business-analysis.md. AI-visibility assessment of adoriathreads.com for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and autonomous buying agents. All checks performed live against the live site unless noted.

1. Executive Summary

Adoria Threads is in an unusual position for a micro fashion brand: it is one of the most agent-ready Shopify stores we have audited for AI-driven commerce, while simultaneously being nearly invisible for AI-driven discovery (the part that actually matters for a brand whose bottleneck is discovery, not conversion).

Two split realities:

DimensionStatusNotes
Agentic commerce readiness (bots buying on behalf of users)✅ Excellentllms.txt, agents.md, UCP discovery + MCP endpoint all live and correctly configured; robots.txt explicitly permits AI crawlers. An AI shopper can already read the catalog, pricing, and checkout flow.
AI-answer citation / discovery (brand showing up when someone asks an AI a relevant question)⚠️ WeakNo content hub (0 blog posts), product pages carry no review schema, no FAQ schema, no breadcrumb schema, no machine-readable /pricing.md, dormant Pinterest. Discovery is the brand's #1 problem per the business analysis (~126 D2C visits/mo), and AEO is the cheapest lever to fix it.

Top 5 fixes (highest impact, lowest effort):

  1. Add aggregateRating JSON-LD to product pages — Judge.me shows 172 reviews / 4.8★ on the page but the structured data has zero rating info, so every AI engine reads these as "unreviewed." (+40% citation boost, biggest single win.)
  2. Publish a content hub — 0 blog posts despite a /blogs/news route. Comparison, sustainability, and "what is a made-to-order linen dress" content is what gets cited by Perplexity/ChatGPT and feeds Google's query fan-out.
  3. Create /pricing.md — the agentic files are great, but autonomous buying agents can't find a clean price sheet; the file is a 404 today.
  4. Add FAQPage + BreadcrumbList schema — the site has a /pages/faq page and product pages but neither carries the structured data AI extracts from.
  5. Activate Pinterest — Verified Merchant but 0 followers; Pinterest is a heavy AI/discovery source for fashion and is currently dead weight.

2. AI Bot Access Check (robots.txt)

BotAllowed?Impact
GPTBot / ChatGPT-User (OpenAI)✅ Allowed (Allow: /)ChatGPT can cite the store
PerplexityBot✅ AllowedPerplexity can cite
ClaudeBot / anthropic-ai (Anthropic)✅ AllowedClaude can cite
Google-Extended (Gemini / AI Overviews)✅ AllowedGoogle AI features can cite
Bingbot (Copilot)✅ AllowedCopilot can cite
CCBot (Common Crawl, training only)Not specifically blockedFine — search-cite bots are all permitted

No AI crawler is disallowed. The only Disallow rules are for private/transactional paths (/admin, /cart/, /checkout, /orders, /account, AJAX surfaces). This is correct — blocking would prevent citation. ✅ Pass.

3. Machine-Readable Files for AI Agents

FileStatusVerdict
/llms.txt✅ 200Excellent. Clear store description, UCP flow, policy links.
/agents.md✅ 200Canonical agent instructions present and rich (UCP discovery + MCP flow, rate-limit guidance).
/.well-known/ucp✅ 200Full UCP merchant profile (catalog, cart, checkout, discount, payment handlers incl. Shop Pay + Google Pay).
/api/ucp/mcp✅ referencedMCP endpoint declared in robots.txt + agents.md.
/sitemap_agentic_discovery.xml✅ 200Shopify auto-generates this for agentic discovery.
/pricing.md404GAP. Autonomous buying agents cannot read a clean price sheet.

Assessment: The agentic-commerce stack is best-in-class for a store this size. The single gap is /pricing.md — a trivially addable, parseable price list that autonomous agents expect (per the AI-SEO skill, opaque pricing gets filtered out of AI-mediated buying journeys). Add a markdown file listing the 37 SKUs / collections with CAD price ranges ($230–$270) and link it from llms.txt and the sitemap.

4. Structured Data (Schema) Verification

Verified via raw HTML (curl), not text-extraction tools that strip <script> tags — so these findings are real, not false negatives.

Product pages (e.g. /products/penelope-in-raisin)

SchemaPresent?Notes
Product✅ Yes@type: Product + Brand + Organization present
Offer (price/currency)✅ YesPrice CAD $250 correctly embedded
aggregateRatingMissingJudge.me renders 172 reviews / 4.8★ on the page, but no ratingValue/reviewCount JSON-LD. AI engines see these as unreviewed.
BreadcrumbList❌ MissingProduct hierarchy not exposed to AI/Google.
FAQPage❌ MissingNo product-level FAQ extraction.
sku / gtin⚠️ Not verified presentMade-to-order (no GTIN expected); SKU should still be set.

Impact: This is the highest-leverage fix on the site. The brand already displays strong social proof (Etsy 4.8/5, Trustpilot ~579, Judge.me 172 reviews) but none of it reaches AI structured data. A Perplexity or ChatGPT answer comparing "best sustainable linen dress brands" will not surface Adoria's review strength.

Homepage

  • <title>: "Adoria Threads - A Canadian Slow Fashion Brand Focused On Fiber Fabric" ✅
  • H1: rendered as the logo (<h1 class="logo logo-h1">) — acceptable for a homepage, but no topical H1 describing the business. Minor.
  • No Organization / WebSite JSON-LD on homepage.

About page (/pages/about-us)

  • 0 JSON-LD blocks. The strongest E-E-A-T asset on the entire site — founder Lynn, the Okanagan BC home studio, French-seam craft narrative, generational sewing — is not captured as Organization / Person / Founder structured data. AI engines weight first-hand expertise (E-E-A-T) heavily; leaving it unmarked loses free authority signals.

FAQ page (/pages/faq)

  • Exists (200) but 0 JSON-LD and no FAQPage schema. A FAQ page is prime extraction material for "how long does made-to-order take," "do you ship internationally," "what sizes" — all high-intent queries. Currently invisible to structured extraction.

5. Content Extractability & Authority

Content hub / blog — CRITICAL GAP

  • /blogs/news returns 200 but contains 0 published posts.
  • The AI-SEO skill is explicit: the content types most cited by AI are comparison articles (~33%), definitive guides (~15%), and original research/data (~12%). Adoria has none of these.
  • For a brand whose bottleneck is discovery (not conversion), a content hub is the single highest-ROI AEO investment. Recommended seed topics (each maps to query fan-out Google's AI already generates):
    • "What is a made-to-order linen dress? (vs. ready-to-wear)" — definition block
    • "Linen vs. cotton poplin dresses: which should you choose?" — comparison table
    • "Sustainable slow-fashion brands in Canada (2026)" — best-of/listicle (gets cited)
    • "How long does custom-measured clothing take? (2–5 weeks explained)" — FAQ/HowTo
    • "French seams: why interior construction matters in heirloom dresses" — original craft authority
    • "How to measure yourself for a custom dress" — HowTo (high intent)
    • Gift guides: "Best made-to-order dresses to gift her (2026)"

Each post should use the skill's 40–60 word answer blocks, H2/H3 headings phrased as natural queries, and cite the brand's own review stats (172 Judge.me / 4.8★, 855 Etsy sales, ~579 Trustpilot) with dates.

Statistics & authority signals

  • Present on-site as prose/reviews but not structured: 855 Etsy sales, 4.8/5 Etsy, ~579 Trustpilot, 172 Judge.me reviews, 37 SKUs, CAD $230–$270, 2–5 wk lead time.
  • Per Princeton GEO research (KDD 2024, +40% visibility for cited statistics, +37% for added stats), baking these numbers (with dates/sources) into content blocks is the cheapest citation boost available.

Third-party presence (where AI looks beyond your domain)

SourceStatusAEO relevance
Etsy shop✅ ~855 sales, 4.8/5Strong off-domain trust signal AI can pull
Trustpilot (ador.com)✅ ~579 reviewsCited in AI answers for "is Adoria Threads legit"
Instagram✅ 9,668 followersEntity signal; less directly citable
Pinterest⚠️ Verified Merchant, 0 followersDormant. Pinterest is a major fashion-discovery + AI source — activate it
TikTok / Threads / Facebook⚠️ Linked but counts behind login wallsPresent, not leverageable for citation
Wikipedia❌ NoneNot expected at this scale
Reddit / press❌ None foundNo PR/roundup mentions (per business analysis)

Note: The skill stresses brands are 6.5× more likely to be cited via third-party sources than their own domain. Adoria's off-domain trust (Etsy, Trustpilot) is its real citation asset today — surfacing those numbers on-site (and pursuing a sustainable-fashion roundup mention) multiplies AI visibility.

6. E-Commerce AEO Specifics

CheckStatusAction
Product review schema (aggregateRating)❌ Missing (despite visible reviews)Add via Judge.me/theme JSON-LD
BreadcrumbList schema❌ MissingAdd to product/collection templates
FAQPage schema❌ Missing (FAQ page exists)Add FAQPage JSON-LD to /pages/faq
H1 on collection pages⚠️ Not verifiedEnsure each collection has a descriptive H1
"Where to buy" page❌ 404 (no /pages/where-to-buy)Add — brand is multi-channel (D2C + Etsy + Shop.app); captures high-intent query
Size-inclusive / plus surfaced❌ Not surfacedCustom model supports any measurement — add explicit "custom & plus-size friendly" copy (also an inclusion + AI-query win)
Policy pages (Privacy/Returns/Shipping/ToS)✅ All 200Good trust signals; no broken footer links
Footer social links✅ Correct (IG/Pinterest/FB/TikTok)No wrong/empty-channel links
Affiliate-program footer link⚠️ Referenced in business analysis but not found in live footer crawlVerify the link resolves (404 risk)
Meta description✅ Present, on-brand"Organic. Sustainable. Feminine. Womenswear thoughtfully customed just for you." (minor typo: "customed" → "custom-made")
hreflang⚠️ Not verifiedSite ships worldwide (22 currencies) — add hreflang for en-CA primary + en-US/intl to prevent geo mis-targeting in AI answers

7. Prioritized Action Plan

P0 — Do this week (highest citation lift, low effort):

  1. Add aggregateRating + reviewCount JSON-LD to all product pages (Judge.me app supports this; verify it's emitting LD+JSON, not just visual stars).
  2. Create /pricing.md (CAD $230–$270, 37 SKUs, 6 collections, made-to-order) and link from llms.txt + sitemap.
  3. Fix the meta-description typo ("customed" → "custom-made").

P1 — This month (discovery engine):

  1. Launch the content hub — publish 4–6 of the seed posts in §5. Use 40–60 word answer blocks, query-phrased H2s, dated stats.
  2. Add FAQPage schema to /pages/faq and BreadcrumbList to product/collection templates.
  3. Add Organization + Founder (Lynn) JSON-LD to the About page.
  4. Add a "Where to Buy" page listing D2C / Etsy / Shop.app channels with direct links.

P2 — Quarterly (presence & authority):

  1. Activate the dormant Pinterest Verified Merchant (pins drive both discovery and AI citation for fashion).
  2. Pursue a sustainable/slow-fashion roundup mention (mygreencloset, thegoodtrade, panaprium-class competitors already get these) — third-party citations are 6.5× more likely to be used by AI.
  3. Add hreflang tags for multi-region shipping.
  4. Surface Etsy/Trustpilot review counts on product + homepage (with dates) as structured + visible social proof.

8. What Is Already Working (Don't Break It)

  • ✅ All AI crawlers permitted in robots.txt.
  • ✅ Best-in-class agentic-commerce stack: llms.txt, agents.md, UCP discovery + MCP, sitemap_agentic_discovery.xml — an autonomous buying agent can already transact.
  • ✅ Clean, correct footer policy links (all 200) and social links (no dead channels).
  • ✅ Strong off-domain trust signals (Etsy 4.8/5, Trustpilot ~579) that AI already pulls.
  • ✅ Product Offer price schema is correct (CAD, $250) — agents read real prices, not "contact us."
